WEST HEMPSTEAD HISTORY MOMENT
The unique Quonset-hut synagogue at 165 Woodfield Road still stands today.
Built in 1951 for Nassau Community Temple, it cost just $7.80 per square foot.
Poor acoustics and heating led the congregation to relocate after ten years. The building later housed a beverage distributor and is now vacant — a quiet piece of local history.
