A first of its kind casket store opened recently at 458 Hempstead Avenue. Unique Casket Creations is the innovation of Christina Millwood-Nicholson and Jason Williams who held an open house for residents of the community this past week. These owner operators offer transparent caskets along with caskets with gold and platinum highlights. Their goal is to bring fashion, elegance and a royal appearance when putting loved ones to rest. The plexiglass caskets come in a variety of sizes and styles. The company also offers design shrink wraps in children’s themes.
While marketing to funeral homes, this is their first effort to sell direct to the customer. They also offer rentals for funeral wakes to those preferring cremation. Cost to buy could be about $10,000 but varies based on theme, size and accessories.
Unique Casket Creations is definitely not your typical store but West Hempstead is not your typical neighborhood.
