With the midterm elections around the corner, here is a look at the races that will effect our state, local and regional areas:
The incumbent Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul is running against former Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin. State Comptroller Thomas Dinapoli, a Democrat, is running against challenger Paul Rodriguez, incumbent Letitia James is running against Republican Michael Henry for state Attorney General and incumbent Democrat Charles Schumer (the Senate Majority Leader) is running against Joe Pinion for US Senator.
In our area, Assemblyman incumbent Ed Ra is running against challenger Sanjeev Kumar Jindal and State Senator incumbent Kevin Thomas is running against James Coil.
The justices for the Supreme, District, County and Family courts in NY are all endorsed by every party so you don’t really have a choice except to select the party you wish to endorse.
The Representative for Congress is new as Kathleen Rice is retiring opening up a race between Laura Gillen and Anthony D’Esposito. Gillen is a former Town Supervisor for the Town of Hempstead and D’Esposito, a former Town of Hempstead Councilman from Freeport. We have two choices of local politicians intimately familiar with the needs of our town.
