Starting December 1st, students at the Chestnut Street School, Cornwell Avenue School, George Washington School, and the West Hempstead Secondary School will be able to receive free breakfast and lunch during school days.
The program was made possible as a result of funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). No action is required by households. All students who are enrolled in the WHUFSD schools will receive the meals at no cost to the households.
This new free service, which is part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs, is a welcomed and needed benefit for families in the West Hempstead community.
