Sauly’s Pizza moving into former site of Hunki’s in West Hempstead

Sauly’s Pizza announced on the West Hempstead Jewish Community Facebook site that the pizza store relocated to 336-338 Hempstead Avenue, the former location of Hunki’s.

Hunki’s in West Hempstead closed recently, leaving residents with only one kosher option for pizza in town.

Hunki’s, which was located on Hempstead Avenue, closed in the beginning of October.  Hunki’s has since relocated to Woodmere in the Five Towns.

In a surprising move, Hunki’s owner, Eric Fiedler, delivered dozens of pizzas to West Hempstead residents from his new store on Broadway in Woodmere. This move comes after angry residents took to Facebook to vent their frustration about the owner’s recent decision to close the West Hempstead location and relocate to Woodmere. The Hunki’s owner delivered the pizzas to West Hempstead residents who were the most vocal on the Facebook community page.  This action only fueled more social backlash from residents who did not make the cut and get their free pie.
