Coolidge Street riddled with potholes following storms

Temperature fluctuations following last week’s snowstorm have caused a rash of potholes to pop up all over West Hempstead.

Two large potholes were spotted Monday morning at the corner of Coolidge Street and Jackson Avenue in the Presidential section of town. The potholes were over 18 inches, and the dislodged asphalt was located nearby.

Coolidge Street was repaved this past fall, but only half of the street was completed.  The other half, extending from Madison Avenue to South Cherry Valley Avenue, is in urgent need of repaving.

The potholes on Coolidge Street were reported to the Town of Hempstead Highway Department.

West Hempstead Echo will follow up on this story.

Pothole complaints can be directly reported to the Highway Department at 516-489-5000, ext. 3471 or via the department’s Helpline Form.

AAA recommends that you inspect your tires and keep them properly inflated to minimize the impact of potholes to your vehicle.
