This past Tuesday residents gathered at the American Legion Hall to meet our local politicians and to hear from the Executive Director of HANC, Rachel Kraut Hackel. In addition to a question and answer session with the politicians and police officials, Lakeview Fire Chief Michael Joyce was presented with the Person Of The Year Award and a State Assembly Proclamation award was presented by Assemblyman Ed Ra to Maureen Greenberg-Mahoney of the West Hempstead Community Support Association.
We learned that the targeted completion date for the new HANC facility is September 2025 and that the Capri Motel is still in litigation with the Capri owners and the town is still looking to take over the shuttered motel under eminent domain. In addition concerns were raised about the ownership of the track of land by Woodfield and Eagle Avenue.
