July 4th in West Hempstead seemed like your typical (pre-covid) July 4th with family barbecues, block parties, loud music, children playing and the booming sounds of fireworks everywhere.
With a beautiful night sky as a backdrop, from about 8 PM till way past midnight, there was a steady banging of fireworks and an amazing light show for anyone at any location in the community to see, all they had to do was look up. (see video below)
West Hempstead residents took to social media to complain about the very loud noise that impacted their children, the elderly and most definitely the pets in the household.
The West Hempstead Sanitary District #6 did an outstanding job of cleanup after all the outdoor events.
