FreebirdNY, a Long Island based Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute band, rocked an engaged audience of several hundred who picked an amazing, crisp night to watch a concert at the Echo Park ball field.
The concert, part of the free summer Town of Hempstead concert series, started at 8:00 with the Pledge of Allegiance and wrapped up at 9:30. The band was tight and did not disappoint by playing some of Lynyrd Skynrd’s greatest hits including, Free Bird, Sweet Home Alabama and a driving version of Saturday Night Special.
With the smell of ‘legal’ marijuana wafting in the air, a mainly senior audience, brought their children and grandchildren, chairs, blankets and beverages. All had a great time as they enjoyed the break from the recent heat and humidity while listening to some great 1970’s Southern Rock tunes.
