WEATHER ALERT UPDATE!! 2/22/26 8AM
We are several hours away from the big snow show. There are recent reports of two power outages affecting the Dogwood area and about 700 PSEG customers. Restoration of power is estimated to be 10am.
STORM REMINDER: Be prepared for power outages.
According to the latest updates from the National Weather Service and local meteorologists, we could see more than 20″ of snow Sunday night through Monday in West Hempstead, along with heavy winds and blizzard conditions. There’s a pretty good chance schools will be closed Monday — and maybe even Tuesday. And let’s not forget the mounds of snow still hanging around from the last “snowmageddon.”
Please remember to check on your neighbors, clear the areas around fire hydrants, shovel your walkways and avoid parking on narrow streets where plows need access. Make sure your chargeable items are charged in case of power outages.
If you have storm related issues, whether it’s a road that hasn’t been plowed, icy conditions, or a tree or limb down, use the following link to the Town of Hempstead storm coverage. Submitting your request at hempsteadtown.com/storm helps the town respond as quickly as possible.
Here we go again… This storm could have a substantial impact on travel Sunday through Tuesday.
