Nassau police urge residents to be on alert as catalytic converter thefts rise

Nassau police are urging residents to be on alert for suspicious activity as the number of catalytic converter thefts increase.

The catalytic converter is an important part of a car’s exhaust system and is often sold for money.

Police say call 911 if you see any of the following:
-A vehicle double-parked in the street.
-A car jacked up with a person lying underneath it during the night or early morning.
-Hear the sound of metal being cut.

Residents are asked to call 911 if they see or hear anything suspicious.
