Unseasonably warm temperatures and abundant sunshine led many area residents to kick off the new year at Hempstead Lake Park, one of our town’s outdoor gems. On our afternoon visit we encountered a bike riders, dog walkers, drone fliers, kids being kids, pickleball and tennis players and even some barbecuers, as if January had suddenly skipped to spring. The day’s high was 51 degrees, with the warmth expected to last throughout the week.
