Officers address dirt bike concerns at West Hempstead Civic Association meeting

Members of the 5th Precinct recently attended a West Hempstead Community Support and Civic Association meeting to address a number of concerns including dirt bike riding.

Police handed out a flyer that says anyone driving an ATV, off-highway roadway or dirt bike on Nassau County roadways must have a valid license, registration, insurance and inspection.

They say drivers must obey the rules of the road and have working lights, directional signals and horns. Helmets must also be worn at all times.

Drivers who don’t comply may face fines and or have their vehicle impounded.

Officers also issued a reminder to residents to lock car doors at night and not leave valuables inside. They also offered tips on how to avoid package thefts. Tips include requesting a specific delivery date, providing delivery instructions and choosing a neighbor to accept packages.
