Rain Expected This Week, With Storm Potential For West Hempstead

Heads up, West Hempstead! Summer storms are on the horizon. Rain is in the forecast for at least the next five days.  It’s always best to be prepared. Make sure you have essentials like batteries, flashlights, and a good supply of non-perishable foods. Now is also a good time to check your back-up generator if you have one. Hurricane Debby made landfall on Florida’s Big Bend early Monday morning, bringing heavy rainfall, strong winds, and life-threatening storm surges. As a Category 1 storm, Debby has already caused significant flooding and damage, particularly in Sarasota and Manatee counties, where 14-18 inches of rain have been reported  . The storm is now moving northeast, expected to affect coastal Georgia and South Carolina with potentially catastrophic rainfall. Forecasts predict 16-20 inches of rain, with some areas possibly receiving up to 30 inches, which could break regional precipitation records
