Thousands of Nassau County residents heeded the call of County Executive Bruce Blakeman and assembled in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow to show support for the State of Israel Tuesday evening. Attendees included a large contingent of West Hempstead residents.
Politicians, legislators and clergy of several denominations joined Blakeman on stage to offer words of sympathy and encouragement as tensions escalated in the Middle East. Recordings from emergency workers were played in support as speakers from around the county expressed shock and sadness at the extreme loss of life and brutality experienced in the past few days.
Blakeman called for the United States to provide unlimited support as a police helicopter preformed a flyby in support. Security provided by the Nassau County Police Department was extremely tight.
