This week, the Young Israel of West Hempstead hosted an event aimed at shinning a light on the rise of anti-Semitism both locally and regionally. The speakers included Rabbi Joshua Goller, Nassau Legislator John Giuffre and Stand With Us Managing Director Avi Posnick. Stand With Us is an international, non-partisan education organization that supports Israel and fights antisemitism. (See videos below)
The discussions covered efforts each community and elected officials need to do to ensure protection of Jewish life, values and liberties. Conversations included the most effective ways individuals and educational institutions can exercise their rights to support students and citizens in Jewish communities against the increasing rate of anti-Semitism. Special emphasis was focused on interaction with legislators and police to keep them informed and to make sure they are doing everything possible to bring an end to this alarming trend.
