This Week In West Hempstead: Week Of August 27th
County or Community?
Speed bumps have been spotted across Nassau County, with several new ones popping up in Garden City. This raises the question: are speed bumps a county-level initiative, or do individual communities make the call? We’ll keep digging.
Monday Night Music at Echo Park
West Hempstead came alive with music on Monday at Echo Park. The Town of Hempstead’s neighborhood block party series continued with performances by the SadBois and other electronic dance music talents.
Road Work Update
Paving is underway on side streets off Nassau Blvd., between Hawthorne Street and Euclid Avenue. Expect road closures, detours, and delays in the area.
PTA Flapjack Fundraiser
The West Hempstead Elementary School PTA hosts a flapjack fundraiser on Saturday, September 14 at 8 a.m. at Applebee’s, 1710 Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont. A tasty way to support local schools.
School District Tech Upgrades
While phones, tablets, and smartwatches are no longer allowed in classrooms, the district is doubling down on technology for learning. Students now have access to the fastest K-12 network in New York—40 Gigabit speeds—along with Classlink for academic tools, PowerSchool for parent communication, and other high-speed systems. The message: fewer distractions, more achievement.
