This Week in West Hempstead – Week of March 18th
We begin with the tragic fatal crash on the Southern State Parkway that claimed the lives of two elderly passengers and left several others injured. Police say the crash involved six vehicles and may have been caused by a driver operating while intoxicated — a sobering reminder about the dangers of impaired driving.
Also this week, potholes across West Hempstead are becoming a major headache for drivers. Roads like Eagle Avenue and Hempstead Turnpike are starting to look like a moonscape after the winter storms. Residents are asking: where are the road crews and when will repairs begin?
We’ll also talk about community news, including the recently held Anshei Shalom dinner, a 50-year reunion for the West Hempstead High School Class of 1976, and the preparations underway for Passover and Easter.
Plus: A cookie bar concept at Riesterer’s Bakery
Political questions surrounding the race for New York’s 4th Congressional District and whether former Congressman Anthony D’Esposito will run again
And of course, the crazy weather swings across Long Island that seem to go from snowstorms to spring overnight.
All this and more on the latest episode of This Week in West Hempstead with Norm, Dan, and David.
