The Town of Hempstead recently voted to opt out of marijuana sales in a 7-0 vote.
The state’s marijuana legalization laws allow for the sale and recreational use of the drug.
Town of Hempstead lawmakers opted out ahead of the state’s Dec. 31 deadline. Opting out means the town will not be able to share in any local tax revenue.
