Former President Donald Trump spoke to his supporters Wednesday night at the Nassau Memorial Coliseum. Driving to the Coliseum was a nightmare with many parking as far away as Eisenhower Park.
The Republican nominee came to the stage shortly after 7 p.m. to address a capacity audience. The large crowd, including residents of West Hempstead, were waiting on line for hours hoping to get into the Coliseum. Many were forced to watch the rally from large TV screens outside. A strong police presence was on hand under very tight security.
Nassau County officials were extra cautious due to the recent assassination attempts on the former president.

In response to the rally, Nassau County Democrats filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission over an estimated $1M County Executive Bruce Blakeman spent on event security, Newsday reported.
The paper quoted Legis. Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D-Glen Cove), the Nassau legislature’s minority leader, saying: “Yesterday was the biggest taxpayer-funded political event in Nassau County history — and that is saying a lot. County taxpayers were forced to foot the bill of a partisan rally orchestrated by Bruce Blakeman and the Trump campaign.”
