Nassau County police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 52-year-old woman outside La Candela Restaurant in West Hempstead late Sunday night.
According to detectives, officers responded to a 911 call just after midnight, finding Ana Ruth Espinoza, of Glen Cove, with multiple stab wounds behind the restaurant on Hempstead Turnpike. A 50-year-old man was also discovered with a laceration on his hand.
Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital. Espinoza was later pronounced dead shortly before 4 a.m. The male victim was treated for his injuries and released.
The suspect, identified as Erick Efren Corado Gonzalez, 27, also of Glen Cove, was arrested on Sunday in Linden, New Jersey. Police say he will face an extradition hearing before being transported back to New York for arraignment.
The investigation remains ongoing.
