James Neri, the senior vice president of the West Hempstead Water District, said there are no concerns currently regarding 1,4-Dioxane.

Officials from the Franklin Square Water District also said the water is safe.

Both districts have also done upgrades to water filtration systems and keep up with regular testing. Officials also reminded residents to be careful about what they dump into the streets and drains because it does trickle down into the water systems.

Residents can also look for STOP programs in their area to see where and when certain items can be disposed. Sanitation District 6 offers special pick up days as well.
