This year, the West Hempstead Community Support Association will host a memorial service, Sunday September 11th at 7pm at Halls Pond. The annual event attended by legislators, clergy and members of the community will remember the 12 members of the community lost on that day. A memorial with a piece of the World Trade Center was dedicated in the park by the WHCSA in 2016.
Around town, families will adorn lawns with flags to remember relatives, true heroes, but all who will forever be missed. These types of rememberances will be played out in nearly every community on Long Island. The Town of Hempstead will hold an annual service at its memorial in Point Lookout and the Lakeview FireDepartment will hold a blood drive on 9/11.
May their memories be a blessing
